Privacy Policy

The short version

Nibbl is designed so your data stays with you. Your recipes, collections, and shopping lists are stored on your device. There is no advertising, no analytics SDK, and no tracking, and you never need an account. The only data that reaches our servers is what you explicitly choose to send: feedback you submit, share links you create, and the details of an optional account if you sign in.

What stays on your device

Your recipe library, collections, and shopping lists.
Your preferences (measurement units, temperature units).
Photos you add to recipes — these are never uploaded, and they are excluded from share links.
Feedback you write in the app is stored on your device until it is sent to us.

What leaves your device

Recipe imports: when you import a recipe from a link, your device fetches that web page directly — like a browser would. The request goes to the recipe website, not to Nibbl's servers.
Recipe images: images referenced by imported recipes are loaded from their original source when displayed.
Share links: when you create a share link, a copy of that recipe or collection (title, ingredients, instructions, source link, and any web image addresses — never your own photos) is uploaded to our servers so the person you send it to can open it. See Share links below.
Feedback: if you submit feedback, we receive the message you wrote, the feedback category, and your app version. We use it only to respond to and improve Nibbl, and we retain it for up to 12 months.
Feature requests: if you submit a suggestion on our roadmap page, we store the idea and details you wrote, and the email address you provide if you'd like a reply. We use it only to consider and respond to your request.
Optional account: if you choose to sign in, we store the account details described under Optional accounts below.
Tips: tip-jar purchases are processed entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details.

Share links exist only when you create one. The uploaded copy is anonymous — it is not tied to an account or profile — but anyone who has the link can view it, so only share recipes you're happy for others to see. Share links expire and are automatically deleted from our servers after 14 days. If you need one removed sooner, email us.

Optional accounts

Every current feature of Nibbl works without an account. If you choose to sign in — with Apple or with email — we store what's needed to operate your account: your email address, an optional display name, and your chosen @handle. Sign-in is handled by Firebase Authentication (a Google service), so we never see or store your password, and Sign in with Apple lets you hide your real email address. You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Account, which removes your account data from our servers.

On-device intelligence

Recipe extraction that uses machine learning runs on your device using Apple's on-device models. Page content processed this way is not sent to Nibbl or to third-party AI services.

Service providers

We do not sell your data or share it with anyone for advertising. The services that operate Nibbl's small backend are Apple (purchases and Sign in with Apple), Google Firebase (authentication for optional accounts), Amazon Web Services (our API and storage), and Cloudflare (this website). Like nearly every online service, our servers and website hosts process IP addresses transiently for security, abuse prevention, and rate limiting; we do not use them to identify or profile you.

What we don't do

No account required, no profiling, no contact upload.
No ads and no sale of data.
No third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.

Children

Nibbl is not directed at children under 13, and accounts may not be created by anyone under 13 (or the minimum age for online services in your country).

Your choices

Use Nibbl entirely without an account — nothing is uploaded unless you submit feedback, create a share link, or sign in.
Delete your account, and the data we hold for it, in Settings → Account.
Share links delete themselves after 14 days; email us to remove one sooner.
Deleting the app deletes all of the data stored on your device.

Changes to this policy

If Nibbl's features change in a way that affects your data, we will update this policy first and change the date at the top of this page. New online features will always be opt-in.
